Richard "Dick" Whitten, 76, longtime resident of Milford, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester, after a long period of declining health. He was born in Peterborough, on November 16, 1940; the son of the late Chester A. Whitten, Sr. and Mabel C. (Thompson) Whitten of Milford.

Dick was employed as a woodworker for the family business, Whitten Lumber Mill. He was a musician and loved to play the guitar, he and his late sister would practice yodeling and singing country songs for hours on end to the...

Richard "Dick" Whitten, 76, longtime resident of Milford, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester, after a long period of declining health. He was born in Peterborough, on November 16, 1940; the son of the late Chester A. Whitten, Sr. and Mabel C. (Thompson) Whitten of Milford.

Dick was employed as a woodworker for the family business, Whitten Lumber Mill. He was a musician and loved to play the guitar, he and his late sister would practice yodeling and singing country songs for hours on end to the delight of his family. Dick was an accomplished alpine skier, enjoyed woodworking, wildlife photography, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Dick is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Barbara (Whitten) McLaughlin.

He is survived by two brothers; Chester A. Whitten, Jr., and his wife Joan, and Ronald Whitten all from the Milford, NH area, as well as, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be privately held at the family plot in Wilton. The FLETCHER FUNERL HOME of Keene is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dick's name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
